Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

MLD Focuses on the lymph vessels just under the skins surface that contain your natural healing cells. When these superficial vessels are gently manipulated it speeds up the flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the entire lymph system, deep and superficial. This increase flow rate clears congestion, decreases swelling, removes fluid from nerves helping to decrease pain, reduces scar tissue and the appearance of scars, as well as helping improve digestive functioning and immune system functioning.

What can you expect during a lymphatic massage?

A: You can either wear loose-fitting, lightweight material or underdress to your level of comfort after which you'll be under a blanket and sheet. The areas of the body being worked on will be undraped as they are being worked on, except the abdomen which is done over the sheet.

Most clients feel very relaxed at the end of the massage. It's also not uncommon to have some brief dizziness upon sitting up or feel the need to urinate immediately after the session. Lymphatic work moves a lot of fluid quickly. Clients may also experience nasal drainage, intermittent swelling as fluid moves from one area of the system to another, and occasionally a queasy stomach. Being well-hydrated and not eating a heavy meal before the session can help with these symptoms.

For clients receiving the 5-series (one session five days in a row), They may feel relaxed on the first day, with detox symptoms on day three or four (muscle aches and tiredness) and then a burst of energy on days four/five.
